VTF Security Academy

Capital City Partnership's Vocational Training Framework (VTF) have partnered with VERG to deliver a 2-week course offering: Security Industry recognised certificates - including an opportunity to gain the SIA Door Supervisor Licence - employability skills training and guaranteed interview with recruiting employers after successful SIA exam. It's a great chance for participants to start a meaningful employment.

  • Costs: Free
  • Prerequisites: This course is available for Edinburgh residents, aged 18 and above with the Right to Work in the UK; access to e-mail and at least Intermediate level of English knowledge (candidates will need to take short English reading and writing assessments prior to enrolment to check their language skills due to the SIA's entry requirements);

What you will learn - course modules

This fully funded training includes:

  • Modules: Emergency First Aid, Counter Terrorism, Working in the Private Security Industry, Working as a Door Supervisor, Conflict Management and Physical Intervention
  • Sessions designed to teach new entrants manage difficult conversations with customers and learn positive mental attitudes and mindfulness
  • Support to go through SIA DS Badge Application process; HMRC Employment checks and gathering RTW Documents
  • Employer Insight Session, live Q&A about jobs available
  • CV and confidence building; interview technique support followed by job interview for participants who pass SIA exam
