Through the Integrated Employer Engagement programme, the City Region Deal has supported the development of the Energy Training Academy (ETA). This Midlothian-based Community Interest Company was established in 2023, and its overarching aim is to enable a sustainable future for Scotland through renewable energy education.
Complimenting the day-to-day training frameworks to upskill and retrain existing gas engineers, ETA has implemented a comprehensive community engagement offering. Engaging with schools across the region to promote careers to school pupils and supporting colleges to develop their own renewables and energy training offer.
The ETA also played a pivotal role in another recent IRES project focused on curriculum development in the domestic retrofit sector. This initiative secured SCQF credit rating, which will enhance the net zero training offerings at our regional colleges. The ETA also hosted one of five in-person masterclasses, concentrating on renewable technologies.
